Kastoria Summer School Participant 2016
About myself:
My name is Siiri Kaseorg. I was born in 1990 in Estonia. I spended my childhood on the
biggest island in Estonia, Saaremaa. Arounded with beautiful nature and good people.
I have studied graphic design in Kuressaare Industrial School (Estonia) for two years.
Graduated in 2012. During which i had my exciting internship at Taevas Ogilvy advertising
agency in Tallinn.
In 2013 i saw everything in another point of view discovering the world and myself, working
in Australia.
I continued my studies in Tallinn Industrial Education Centre (Estonia), from which i
graduated as a tailor-stylist on June 2015. In that two years i had my training/internship in
three places: Gemhill Ltd (BonBon Lingerie); Tiina Talumees (Tiina Talumees Couture) and
Lindante Ltd (Linda). In these places I saw different work environments, techniques,
arrangements and people.
Since 2015 i work in Lindante as a tailor-furrier. Where i am doing mainly individual work,
every coat is made based of client and him/her wishes. I can use my creativity and fantasy
by doing sample coats, where i can experiment with different skins, patterns and cuts.
Mostly i get do do coats from start to finish, from taking measurements until the work is
handed over to the client.
In 2016 i was very lucky to be among of the few people around the word to be selected as
a participant in Fur Summer school, in Kastoria, Greece. It widened my knowledge and
point of view about fur and everything around it.
What was your inspiration going into fashion?
I started drawing and sketching clothes and other things in elementary school. So fashion
and art has been with me for a long time. I think every human as a way to express
themselves and fashion and art is mine. And mybe it has something to do with my parents,
because my mom is a tailor and my dad is an architect.
I am very thankful for my basic and high school, because we had lot of opportunities to
experss ourselves. Thanks to that school and my craft teacher there, i could took part of a
our schools fashion shows and showcased my creations on other fashion shows in
Estonia. The biggest one was Supernova, a fashion contest for Estonias designers.
I have always liked to learn about new materials and ways to create something. I love when
the product has structure, simplicity and balance. Not necesserely all in one thing. I usually
never take the easy way out when it comes to creating something. Because even if the
product looks simple it has to express something. I am working with and learning about fur
and leather now because i like the endless ways you can use them. As a part of a garment
(pocket) or by it`s own (coat), a jewelry (earrings), an accessorieses (bag) and a product
(chair). I want to constantly evolve, try and learn new things and for this it is perfect. I am
always open for new challenges.
