Kastoria Summer School Participant 2016
Born and raised in Greece, I am a furrier from Kastoria who has been working on fur since I was a young boy. I have a great passion and love for fur making with quality. Communicating with other people inspires me as I can learn about different cultures, which is one of the reasons why I enjoyed the summer school in 2016.
Collection ‘Love like there is no tomorrow’
Inspired by the famous story, Beauty and the Beast, my collection is about the contrast of dark and bright side of one’s personality. It is a winter collection of menswear and womenswear. With the usage of everlasting rose print as the symbol and an expression to express the unfailing love. The colors used in the collection comes in a gradation to represents the progress and evolution from darkness to brightness. With the use of leather and fur for the collection, it enhances the looks with variations of silhouettes to embrace the curves of the body, showing the masculinity and femininity within the collection.
Collection ‘Simplicity’
Inspired by Bauhaus concept and style, the collection is about the beauty of simplicity with the principle of Bauhaus, form follows function. The collection is also inspired by the artworks in Bauhaus period, using primary colors and blocks representing the construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Like the artwork ‘Rhythm of a Russian Dance’ created by artist Theo van Doesburg in 1918, using simple block shapes forming a pattern with bold colors.
