Top 5 fur street style picks – By designer Rebecca Swann
When it comes to the merging of fabrics and fur street style, Paris seems to have got it spot on!! Knit/ fur mixes are a possible new trend to keep an eye on (furry femininity). Leather/Fur provides a new tactile quality with a cosmopolitan sleek agenda. And summer brings new possibilities in creating new and innovative ways of proving that fur is multi-seasonal when worn and designed correctly.
This look shows the use of fur in a subtle way, which brings through a strong feminine touch governed by the cut of the fabric. The tiered affect of the fabric complements the figure and draws your eye to different areas of detail and the pops of colour. The peter pan collar has been re-invented in to a luxurious haze of emerald green fur.
I love this look because it brings back the era of the flower child, confirming that all garments can be timeless. The combination of leather and fur draws your eye immediately to the fur. Having a sleek fabric creates a surface to build texture upon, which is elevated with the contrast of the fabric merging matt, shine and pattern in one outfit.
This immediately says to me ‘biker chic’. This jacket utilises the classic shades of fur that are un-dyed establishing a rough and natural look to the fabric. By using natural shades of fur this makes the main subject of interest the fur and the other fabric elements are added in purely for detailing.
Garment 4 shows a complex use of fabrics ranging from two different types of fur to 3 different types of yarn. The combinations of fabrics all complement each other. By having the cables of knit next to the fur on the sleeves this draws your eye to that particular section, as that becomes the area of interest. This technique is used throughout the garment through the shifting of knit techniques and the cut of fur.
My final street style pick is all about the colour. A bright shade of burnt sienna makes this garment stand out from the crowd. The large leather placket creates a surface area, which draws your attention to the garment. This jacket is different from all the rest, purely based on the use of colour, which is one to keep an eye on in new emerging trends.
