Rising Label Jarret from Seoul

Jarret, a rising Korean label incorporates an asymmetric relationship between professionalism and the arts. Ji Youn Lee’s cuts are contemporary with ragged edge stitches, sleeves that are longer than the arm, and furs bulging over slim figured models. Lee’s use of fur is simple almost as an accessory to the garment. In many looks for both New York and Seoul F/W 2016 fur is either used as patchwork, as misshaped sleeves, or in oversized stoles.

North American Fur Auction published an article about their work with Jarret in the press section of their website.

Below is an excerpt of an interview published there with the designer Ji Youn Lee.

1. Why do you like working with fur?
I like working with fur because the texture enriches my collection. Fur enhances the design and mood of what I want to express.

2. What/who inspired you to work with fur?
I am inspired by women. Women feel fabulous in fur.

3. What are your favourite types of fur to design with?
I like to mix and match different colours and textures. My favourite looks portray a mood that is casual and contemporary, never old-fashioned.

4. What is the biggest challenge when working with fur?
Furs have always been a symbol of true elegance and luxury. When I’m working with fur, I try to combine it with other fabrics and used it as an accent so I can harmonize it within the overall aesthetic of JARRET from SEOUL.
