Here is our roundup of the stand out designers using fur from the first two days of New York Fashion Week.
Brock:
Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock took to the runway for the first time to present their fall/winter 2016-2017 collection. The couple opened up with all white ensembles in a heavy silk. A white mink robe defined its theme of a pampered lifestyle. Fox scarves were also presented, draped asymmetrically across the body, highlighting a range of looks.
Helen Yarmak:
Award winning furrier Helen Yarmak delivered a unique twist in luxury fur, ranging from traditional to contemporary. The main attraction from Yarmak’s show was a hooded mink jacket along with a number of lightweight coats that offered versatility in every sense.
Marissa Webb:
Floral prints have been a main theme so far this week and Marissa Webb continued this as well. This easy, wearable collection featured plenty of relaxed looks that worked for the “buy now, wear now” consumer attitude that is now dominating.
Long topper coats made from gabardine wool take you all around the globe or just around the block. Either way, these are solid looks that appeals to the traditionalists.
Yigal Azrouel:
There was a trend alert of contrasts and conflicting forces dominating the catwalk for Fall 2016 and Yigal Azrouel was no exception, fusing innocence and darkness. Azrouel showcased his talent of textiles in a collection that ranged from pretty and polished to modern and sensual. This included a leather and mink jacket that is going to be a must have for the season.
Nicole Miller:
The bitter cold that New York had offered certainly did not stop Nicole Miller presenting her showcase of warm, bright colours that illustrated her AW 16 collection. There was a perfect mix available on show for the Ready To Wear garments that included fox trapper hats, collars and a versatile fox tiered jacket that gave her guests a prescription fo fighting the cold outside.
Francesca Liberatore:
A 1920’s vibe that was fresh and modern at the same time. This is what Francesca Liberatore managed to pull off on Day 2 at New York that still included her trademark elegance. A traditional fur fling tends to be a fun accessory, however Liberatore went one step further and produced hers with a wider and longer shape. The result of this mink piece was a more functional take rather than traditional that offered incredible versatility.
