15 designers of the Accademia Costume & Moda competed in the Talents 2016 Fashion Show at Via dello Scalo San Lorenzo on Saturday 30th January.
The Talents 2016 candidates had been selected as early as last July with candidates creating womenswear, menswear and accessory collections.
A jury panel of 13 evaluated the 15 collections and decided that first place would go to Ilaria Fiore for her collection ‘Magda’. Fiore was also presented with a Special Mentions Accessories Award. On the occasion of the second edition of the Lagente Green project, Davide Dallomo, founder of Lagente, awarded a prize to Federica Melpiganto. The prize consisted of a one-year pro-bono mentoring scheme.
The faculty of Santo Costanzo and Luigi Mulas Debois coordinated the show and explained how the collections were designed.
“The 15 collections are a result of both hand-made and technological experimentation. The collaboration with important companies of the Textile Industry allowed the 2016 Talents to be stimulated in creating unique pieces, timeless collections, characterised by the personality of each one of them in keeping with the spirit of the Accademia Costume & Moda.”
Marco Mastroianni, a former student who is now working for Louis Vuitton, supported the 2016 Talents in their selection of materials and production of fabric elaborations using the new technology and handmade crafts.
