This is my last day in Paris. I have always had a bit of reservation towards this city. I lived here for a while and, apparently (as I discovered then in one of my French classes), people from my country have a “very strong accent” to master the sensual phonetics of the language in an urban way. My over-cautious and self-conscious approach to the language in my young years restricted me from the pleasures this city encompasses. So, this time, much older and savvy, the Guru decided to forget about the language/ accent barriers and just try to approach the city in a more uninhibited way.
Open to suggestions and invitations from old and new friends that are local to the city but also, on her own, the Guru walked around the streets of Paris. She planned to indulge herself with food, coffee, wine, fur fashion, art and city sighting. And, it paid off. This time Paris presented itself like that long- lost schoolmate that you bump into and you hardly recognise as you realise that your quixotic memories become undone by reality. The real Paris defied me with excruciating traffic jams, drenching afternoons but still, there was something fascinating about it. Even soaked and tired after a day at work, the Guru was excited to walk its streets, enjoy nice food and wine in Paris’ trendiest restaurants and bars and stop for a cheeky visit to shops.
Too much input for the senses my darlings, so, I decided to make a list of my favourite Paris spots based on one of the Guru’s most loved songs (Lana del Rey’s Take me to Paris). Enjoy the track.
There is no Paris without Yves Saint Laurent. This museum is something not to be missed whenever you visit the French Capital.
The Guru found one of the most romantic and quiet places in the whole of Paris. Homely, french food which made the Guru fall in love with La Mandigotte.
For the lovers of french, sweet love: Tarte aux Pommes in La Mandigotte.
L’Atelier Montmatre was another favourite of the Guru. If you are after welcoming, good food and a drink in Paris, look no further.

From afternoon till evening, MOB hotel had everything for the Guru not wanting to leave.
Just coming out from YSL Musee. A little stroll away from the iconic Arc de Triomphe.
