Alexquisite is the creative brand and brainchild of Greek designer Alexandros Kotoulas. Alexquisite stands for superior quality, handmade leather goods and intelligent design that is tailor-made to the needs and tastes of a contemporary, mobile aesthete.
The core principle of Alexquisite’s design ethos is soft design — a design language that blends together practicality and function with intuitive beauty and a playful involvement of all the senses.
Saga is a Fur Auction House, providing the broadest selection of superior furs to Fashion Houses all over the world.
I was invited by the design department in order to research on how fur can be used in alternative ways and create new surfaces and techniques for their already rich library.
As I have already experimented with leather, I tried to transform the skin into a yarn and weave with it. This conversion gives you a lot of possibilities and break one of the biggest barriers while working with skins/pelts; the limited surface of the material. Having a long yarn give you the opportunity to create panels of desired dimensions and combine different qualities of hair and colour.
Depending on this combination and by regulating the weave bindings, more qualities can be integrated in the surface and the result can be either stiff or flexible, open or close, changing the context of use.
